View Full Version : Why is it just North Sudan's flag is everywhere?
Right now in Sudan there are two governments, one in the North and one in the South. Why North Sudanese flag is everywhere here and no a single South Sudanese flag? or is it indirect way to tell us that you are not belong here?
I hope moderators have time to make some changes.
2 governments doesnt mean 2 states. DOH
Dear TTG,
The SDB is a Sudanese discussion board and it welcomes all walks of people of the Sudan, (South, North, West or East). The flag :flag: is a representative of Sudan as a Country. As far as I know Sudan is one country, represented by a federal government and it has one flag.
In all international representation of Sudan, the Sudan flag has been presented as the official Sudan flag.

I respect your view, but it is not the way most of us(South Sudanese) see it. The flag and it's description have nothing to do with Africans.
wuz up brother TTG? you can get your old name back,
TTG, can't you at least let us enjoy the new SDB for a couple of days without any negatively?? beside as muza said this is the flag of Sudan regardless of what any of us think!!!, So jus put a sock on it....:) loooooooool @u

You're damn wrong, sir.
This flag represent the arabized Nubian govt in the North not the whole Sudan as you may think my friend.
I hope there must be a change on that unless if this SDB belongs to arabized Nubians only.

Dear afriend!
It is an issue not just only paining, TTG alone but many including myself who never condone the flag you think is for Sudan. I am not sure why a flag that only represent particular people be an everybody symbol? If Muaza is genuine and just, he should do something about it! What you see here is not just a fight which must last here but will drag on until that flag is ripped off in representing the Sudan unless what we have in mind change! God bless!
Jakor, I can understand some people feel that the falg doesn't represent the...and that is cool...but it isn't up to Muaz to decide....he is just like the rest of us, he has no say on the flag....And as ithave been said before this is the officially know Sudanese flag. May in the New Sudan we will have a different flag....Do you get my point?(it is hard to explain:( )

Greetings all,
In fact I have to express a personal feeling of unease at the national flag being stuck all over the new SDB. I hope it is not meant to be an emphasis on patriotism. I just hope!

Till 2011, the GNU needs a united flag.
The South in case of separation should look for its own flag, it can be the current SPLM Flag:

Sudan is in transition - under current arrangements it has one national flag (the one displayed).
For those who want an alternative new more genuine flag for a New United Sudan – the march is a long one and Sudan.net is probably the wrong venue for such a fight since it is a private organization owned by other than Muaz.
I am sure Muaz was not trying to send any messages beyond that this site is sudan.net and is one that deals with Sudanese concerns the other images encompass much of diversity in our country.
To those who don’t see themselves as Sudanese or stupidly think that this is the flag of North Sudan they may consider a move to a place that is more suited to their inclinations.
Ps: Ya Muaz, should you become inclined toward adding other flags - I for one expect to see the flags of all political organizations in the Sudan after all there is more to all of us than just Ingaz and SPLM.
Scoop_T,
Personally I want the next flag for Sudan to be adopted by referendum, after all national symbols should be the subject of consensus.

Muaz own this forum thankfully, and he offered us under certain condition to discuss our general opinion.
However, we actually come here with our argument and I brought my images with to discuss this flag matters.
Yes, this forum is not a place to decide national matters, but a small room to show our thought.
Nevertheless, a flag is a public symbols and I agree with your point to adopt this by a referendum, but it dose not make any logic if we wait for this mater till southern self-determination referendum?
Repeating a color in a flag dose not change its neither meaning nor dose the symbol.e.g. (See the US Flag only counting).

Dear Scoop-Tiger,
I personally would prefer and vote for a change of the flag if we vote for unity in 2011 and the flag to be be more representative of Pan-African colors.
But at this stage, the current Sudan flag remains as the representation of Sudan in all international affairs.
I currently see the SPLM flag more of a political movement flag, like the Ummah, NIF, DUP e.t.c. flags.

Very true I could not disagree with what you said at all. If we are going to put every political movements flag here we are going to have around 15 flags atleast. The sudan national flag is the only known sudanese state flag recognised internationally.

Dear TTG
Fisrt of All, the language is not the northerns language and Islam is not the northerns religion. The laguage is called The National laguage and Any country should have a national language where by all different parts of the country speat it and can communicate with it. In this case, is nobody's fault that the muslims are the majority making there laguage the national laugaue. And I don't think the government, or anyone threatened anyone who speak their own language. We in the north have ours too and on the side we speak Arabic. No one complained!!! You might say, they wont complain beciase they are muslims, I'll tell there are non muslims as well in the north whose first and mother togue is Arabic. Don't naiively chew on what you hear from other people!!!
To my amazement , no body wanted so far to consider the legal implications
of dealing with the national flag !.. There is a law governing it as where , when and who is authorised to raise it .. If your raise the flag , anywhere in the world , the concerned authority of that locality can question you ; that is one and on the other hand we want the board free from all constraints including this sham patriotism which some may use to restrict freethinking .

Indeed, this is a great answer, but is better to enjoy respecting each other for the coming two years, before the hatred decide to break away the south. Honestly, you ever thinking that, this will be a great lost to our being together for all these years. I think reserving this desire of pro African flag until referendum may fuel the anger and may be credit for secessionist

the flag dispalyed is sudan flag
the flag you are refering to is spla flag
it dosent even represent south sudan it is only spla flag
we all knows that spla dose not represent south sudan in general
there are other factions in the south not supporting the spla or it is flag
just like in the north
there is flag of the oma party
there is flag of national unity party (aletihadi)
so those flags are not sudan flags
sudan flag is only one till the refrandom
that time either it will one country with the same flag or they will be two flags two countries

I don’t think you got it right.
I agree with many here that the flag of issue here is the National Flag of Sudan.
It’s unfortunate that you think of it as an issue of segregation, in fact your views are alarming in terms of you opting to extreme partiality instead of embracing a fruitful discussion.
Although my point wasn’t at all about the orientation of the national flag, I, as much, followed the other views and thought of how those how negotiated for example the shape, content and value of the new (interim) currency managed to reach a consensus that transformed, at least in shape, the once very ideological Sudanese Dinar to an impartial, rather secular, Sudanese Pound.Similarly, I thought of how some views here concerning the national flag, including by the way the views of the webmaster himself, can have some reasonable impact on creating a new flag.

Have you ever read the discription of the so-called sudan flag? let me remind you. Here is what your elit have constituted about the flag:
Red stands for struggle and the martyrs of the Sudan and the Great Arab Land.
White stands for Islam, peace, optimism, light and love.
Black stands for Sudan and the Mahdiya revolution (the Black Flag).
Green stands for prosperity, good and agricultureI can see the point why you should embrace it but it's the 180 degree opposite of what it's for me and othere who will never fly it at their backyard: never, never...Everyone know why Muez but it's ok though...this is just a website...Let see what happen in reality...I'm sure that flag is not flying anywhere in the south but this a arab own website...So i guest Muez has the right to dictate the whole thing to his/nothern favorite....Let just waite 4 more year peacefull and we'll go out separte ways....Oh yeah, that's offcourse by all mean necessary...
As I've always said, the problem in Sudan isn't and has never been the goverment. You have those who in public shed crocodile tears over Darfur yet secretly support the NIF's offensive and deny the need for UN troops. The only thing these people have managed to achieve in 50 year's is to provide undenilable proof that they're incapable of ruling.
You want me to design the May Regime’s flag... no way.
There is no compromise!
..
Scoop_Tiger,
The flag adopted during the Mayo dictatorship is the one shown at the top of DB (Green triangle, red, white, and, black)!!
Your blue square deprives the design of any symmetry - it is like two flags stuck together.
If you made the blue square into a full width rectangle you may have something.
Ps: Compromise on what exactly??
Because there are no such thing as Southern Sudan it's Unity now latter you can cry..

It has been said by historians that the slaves who were taken to Middle East are larger than Europe and American combine. The slaves in Middle East were not allowed to have babies, many have died for harsh labour, diseases and murder by their masters.
Believe me, if *Olive(Zaytoon) is obsessed with the words slave and chimp, it is because this words are his nickname in the muslim and arab world.

Your brother Tamboura was in love with daughter of a son of a former slave from that town not far away from Basra, town in south of Iraq, staid there three days they told me how their grandfather came from Africa but didn't know the name of a country because their masters arabs didn't allow them to teach their kid some of them though they were from Sudan, I went like Yaa Sudan ya gwad. I believe you without question bro.
Right now in Sudan there are two governments, one in the North and one in the South. Why North Sudanese flag is everywhere here and no a single South Sudanese flag? or is it indirect way to tell us that you are not belong here?
I hope moderators have time to make some changes.
What does "South Sudanese" flag look like? And why is it important to have on here?
Pan-Arab colours:-
Red: martyrs of the greater arab land
Black: Mahdi revolution
White: "peace"
Green: islamic "prosperity"

I do not think discussing an opinion is a fight.
(See the US Flag only counting).
..
I would like to invite you for an extend discussion, first please, read:

"Lost Boys" is a term used for those who come from South Sudan.
and South Sudan's flag is this:

Any other flag will be offensive to those lost boys.

That's a beautiful flag, but for the lost boys, I would use this flag:

tritak,
Just type: South Sudan at wikipedia, it will show the real flag of South Sudan.
or just google:South Sudan's flag, and the first three flags on the very top are the real flag.
the flag has a yellow star on a blue triangle and three equal lengths of Black, Red and green, the red has two small white stripes on its eges.
Omega, thank you SO much for your time, I truly appreciate it!
It is the reason why Southerners voted 99% for separation at the referendum.

Despite my ability to read your Arabic writing, are you telling me Darfur, Nuba mountain, and Blue Nile are the best to remain in your marriage commitment to black people of Sudan and you do not care if the bad one (the South) separate? Enjoy the war and I'm sure it is coming soon to the inner part of Kkartoum.
