Probably it is good news for the SPLM, but probably it is not.
It all depends on the reasons behind this action! Is it because the SPLM leadership is not happy about the performance of the ones who will be sent to the street? As far as I know, the state ministers in the Presidential Palace and the Ministry of Interior have been accused of being weak and susceptible to being co-opted by the NC! As to the minister of Higher Education, frankly he is useless. He knows nothing about what is going on in his own ministry and thus he is a liability to the SPLM! The minister of health, Dr. Tabita, has thus far been doing great and I hope she will continue to consolidate her presence in the new position.
The challenge is in the Foreign Ministry! Whaterever the reason for removing Lam Akol is, the man has thus far shown a very good capability in diplomacy. I doubt if Deng Alor is as capable as Lam to deal with Sudan's diplomatic quagmire!
Personally I think the SPLM needs to concentrate on GOSS matters. That is where the challenges of reconstruction and development lie. Failing to do that will isolate the SPLM where it is most strong: the south. And southerners might as well vote with their feet in 2011!

This changes may not have any great effect rather than change of payroll flow and other incentive from the outgoing ministers to the new nominees.
Dear Gharrabi!
SPLM is a national movement that they can't just leave the national issues in the hand of NIF. Isolation from national issue would be a grave mistake for SPLM as well as the whole marginalised societies in the Sudan. There is no way SPLM can do that. S.Sudan will always remain the main base for SPLM as well as the rest of the Sudan. By SPLM taking the political battle up north, they are doing the right thing. In this Kiir has my backing which he doesn't have before because he was concentrating too much on Southern issues than for the whole country which the SPLM is bligated to do!
Hi, All: I just called Sudan. Apparently, it's not true. We'll see in time, I guess.
