To answer your question, one who converts to Islam does not have to change his/her name. They only change if their name has anything agaist Islam. In this case I don't see anything wrong with his original name, but most converts like to change their name because they feel like they fully convert their lives I guess. Its not a requirment. My name isn't a muslim name but the relgion I choose is Islam. A person can change his/her relgion without changing his name. Also a lot of arab names got nothing to do with Islam like Omar, khalid, ali, all these names are pre-islamic names.

You all should just let it go, why do you care if he converted? How much joy will it bring to your life if someone answered what would happen to him if he left Islam or change his name while practicing Islam. Let the man follow what he wants to follow.
