مدة العشر الدقائق المشترطة إذا كان ممكن
Just wondering if the 10-minute time restriction on the (edit) facility can be reconsidered or potentially removed by the webmaster.
Is it at all possible, Muaz?
What do members think?
Thanks

I think the edit function should be eliminated all together…first thoughts an opinions tend to be telling …so we should enjoy the benefit of unedited first thoughts
Thanks, Club
I think it would be quite courteous of the forum, if contributors were to have the freedom of choosing whether to keep these (first impressions) on record or not, correct previously made mistakes and withdraw contributions according to any new circumstances that may take place.
A sense of freedom and ownership of one's written thoughts here would surely make the whole experience more personal and rewarding.

I disagree with club. I think the edit function is very important particulalry for correction of syntax.
As for kadanga's query, when Muaz first introduced the edit function many years ago there was no time restriction. However, this was abused on more than one occasion by members who decided to delete all their entries in all the posts. This lead to disruption of numerous threads and that was when the time limit was introduced for the first time.
I think the current ten minute restriction is satisfactory. Obviously not everyone agrees (particulalry winner lol).....

I see, thanks. I wonder if there's anyway round that technical issue. (Perhaps limits on editing ?) Would be nice to hear Muaz on this one.
Obviously, I disagree with you . Free and unlimited editing is enabled in many forums and it seems to be working well and helping quality. I think most people would use it responsibly.

I actually agree with limiting the edit function to 10 minutes.
10 minutes is enough to change one's spelling mistakes and other minor glitches.
The problem with open editting is that people cannot afford the time or the effort to keep going back and rechecking adjustments done to the posts. Once they read a thread, they'd expect that they got all they need from it. To have the ability to keep changing it will disturb the integrity of the posts because things can change literally overnight.
