South Sudan denies restriction on northern merchants

Feb 18, 2007 (JUBA) — The Southern Sudan government denied restricting northern Sudan merchants from doing business in southern Sudan.

The GoSS Minister of Commerce, Trade and Supply, Anthony Makana, said in a statement to Sudan Radio Service that northern Sudanese merchants are not subjected to any restriction. The minister added that they are just facing competition by southern Sudanese traders.
He said that southern Sudanese merchants have learnt business skills during their exile. He also explained the situation by the fact that the new comers have broken a sort of trade monopoly in which the northern traders had used to work.
“When they came back they met with northern traders. To their surprise they found that for the first time southerners are now doing big trading business because the northerners were not used to competition before because they were the only people dominating the business.â€‌ he said.
Makana says he expects southern Sudanese traders to “out-competeâ€‌ northern Sudanese traders soon, especially in Juba.

Good news. Kick them out make sure none of them survive there. Kick them northerners out along with their southern wives and sons & daughters and send them back North.

However no one shall kick your thousands of Nuer / dinka bussiness men who are selling and profiting from the clothes bussiness in the streets of omdurman & Khartoum. Nor the thousands of your nuer/Dinka students studying in northern schools & universities nor your 4 million who have lived and made their home in the North for the last 40 years.

Those people cuasing the problems in Juba, are not the Juba people but those SPLMErs who came from the bush and never even dreamed of living in the city.The same people who the locals of juba & yei are complaing about and who their land is being grabbed from them in the last 2 years by those same people. 13 November 2006 — (Juba) — The University of Juba has admitted 5 hundred returnee students for the next academic year.

The deputy principal of the University of Juba, Philip Taban told Sudan Radio Service in juba that the students are mostly from Kenya and Uganda.


He said that some of the returnee students who had applied for degree courses in medicine, engineering and computer science will be taken to the University of Juba in Khartoum. Most of the faculties of the University are still in Khartoum since the university was transferred during the war.

Because we need to respect the boarder...Tell Al Bashir to send those southerners living in the north and south and this ones in the south gotta go up north...

Dont worry too much there are no northerners any more in the south. The few hundreds that were there have now gone back after their houses and families were burned on black monday 2005. But there are millions of Rami ram 's relatives & militiamen, still in Khartoum.


Also dont bother yourself too much about the poster' comments he is the same tribalist who once posted a post asking people in juba to kill the dinkas and kick them out of equatoria state. You see even between his relatives he behave like that. It is part of his culture & tradition to kill any one from another tribes in his area, So dont be surprised if he calls for the killing of a northerner with his southern wife & kids. Iam not surprised at all. What Iam surprised at is not many Nuers have come for his support apart from TTG.
