this story has left me deeply disturbed and much much more aware of racial realities regarding black people.

you must click on the link and watch the video yourself by Kiri Davis called "a girl like me"

in it she redoes an experiment done many years ago, where she places a white doll and a black doll in front of very young black children, and asks then questions about them... "which is the good baby?" etc... i was stunned...

please tell me what this means culturally...

I agree... maybe the other guy was right... maybe this has been an issue for ages for some people, as demonstrated in the video itself, but i guess it is eye opening to me..

i think this is in a way often what babdydolxxx talk about when she talks about women who go to far to be beautiful... the question then is what drives them, and i think the video answers that to a large degree

But is this racism?
I think this will forever remain in human nature. we always seem to associate black with darkness, and we associate darkness with fear (eg fear of the dark), the unknown, etc. no matter what our skin colour is.

the thing is king - it is not the whites that are associating things such, it is the blacks... yes i know there's white who feel the same, but the point is that the black youth pick it up subconsciously... when the one girl says the black one is bad, then is asked which one she is like... how heart breaking when she hesitates, the shyly pushes the black one forward... my heart just broke....
